Wer schon mal eine der Template Dateien bei Drupal ( Ein Open Source Content Management System ( CMS ) und Community Framework ) beim Theming geändert hat, wird festgestellt haben, daß direkt in die entsprechende Datei eingetragene Zeichen in die node.tpl.php ( Eine wichtige Template Datei, die für die Ausgabe der einzelnen Nodes ( Artikel ) einer Drupal Webseite zuständig ist ) oder auch page.tpl.php nicht korrekt angezeigt werden. Das liegt unter anderem mit daran, daß für die Ausgabe von Texten bei Drupal die t() Funktion verantwortlich ist.
Wer also einen Text mit Umlauten mittels der Template Datei ausgeben will, für den gibt es unter anderem folgende Möglichkeiten:

Den kleinen Text "Süße Mädchen aus dem schönen Frankenland" kann man natürlich auch einfach mit einer entsprechenden HTML Ersetzung nach ISO 8859-1 oder mit HTML eigenen Zeichen wie folgt schreiben:

Drupal konform mit der t()Funktion und Oberflächenübersetzung
Da wie schon erwähnt Drupal für Texte eigentlich die t()Funktion nutzt und noch dazu ja englisch die Stammsprache unseres CMS ist, kann man eine derartige Ausgabe am elegantesten natürlich mit einem übersetzbaren String lösen. Mit der Eingabe

?>in der entsprechenden Template Datei, kann man den String auch mittels der Oberflächenübersetzung auf deutsch ausgeben lassen. Einfach nach dem erfolgten Einbau in eine Template Datei unter ../admin/build/translate/search nach "Sweet Girls from beautiful Franconia" suchen und den gefundenen String mit "Süße Mädchen aus dem schönen Frankenland" ersetzen lassen.
Damit sollte jetzt der entsprechende deutsche Text angezeigt werden, wenn die Template Datei beim Seitenaufruf genutzt wird. Wie so oft, entstand die Idee zu diesem Beitrag aus einem Foren-Thread bei Drupal Center.de

Bei Wordpress spricht man beispielsweise von Templates. ) -Dateien standardmäßig kodiert sind. Sobald die jeweilige Datei mit dem Zeichensatz UTF-8 (siehe Beitrag im Forum) kodiert wird, werden Umlaute/Sonderzeichen korrekt angezeigt.
